What Have Oregon Democrats Been
Up To Lately?
Governor John Kitzhaber and the state
legislature just wrapped up session, and scored some
solid accomplishments, including a bill that creates teams
of healthcare professionals who will "focus
on people on the Oregon Health Plan with chronic health problems such
as congestive heart failure, asthma, diabetes and substance
abuse with the aim of giving them regular care so they don't end
up in the hospital" (Oregonian, 6/27/11).
In Washington, D.C., our Senators and
Congressmen have worked to establish an ongoing financial
audit of the Pentagon,
protect Oregon's coast from oil drilling,
clean up the toxic spill of anonymous corporate money in our
democracy caused by the Citizens United ruling, and get a green
light for the
West Butte Wind Project in Deschutes & Crook Counties.
